Panagia Church at Platania, Amari
(2 votes)

The church of Panagia in village Platania, Amari province, is located in the center of the village and is a single-room vaulted temple with a semi-cylindrical arch. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and celebrates on the 15th of August. The church dates back to the 13th - 14th century and bears frescoes of the same period, from which the Virgin Mary and the Ascension of Jesus stand out. As we can still distinguish today, the temple is built on the site of an older one.
