Agios Athanasios church at Lithines
(1 Vote)

The central square of the picturesque village Lithines in the province Sitia hosts the Old School, which today operates as a cultural center. Just a few meters further we meet the Byzantine church of Agios Athanasios, dating back to the 15th century, but it does not bear frescoes.

In the initial single-room temple was added a transverse aisle in 1603, which housed the tomb of the local lord Georgios Vlachos, which survives in an excellent condition. Outside the temple there is a second burial monument (arcosol) in bad condition.
