The Achnistres Cave is located west of the coastal village of Milatos, at an altitude of 70 meters, and has two entrances completely covered by dense vegetation. One entrance is 4 meters deep, while the main entrance, 1.5 meters wide, leads to a 6-meter-long descending passage, ending in a 0.5x0.5 meter passage. The first chamber, with its steep entrance, also has a small opening leading to the main cavern, with impressive stalagmites and columns dividing it into several sections.
Although the cave is inactive, the interior is very impressive and well-developed, with the most impressive columns being a series of columns that range from 2 to 7 meters high and almost 40 meters long. In the southern part of the cave, there is another section up to 12 meters high.
Although the cave is not very large, it has many levels and many rooms, two of which require the use of ropes. During the winter months, water drips, making the floor quite muddy and slippery.
