Agios Vasilios

Church of Christ the Savior in Spili
(1 Vote)

The church of Sotiras Christos (Christ Savior) is located in the cemetery, on the main road of Spili, in the province Agios Vassilios. The church is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior and celebrates on August 6.

Christ the Savior is one-room, vaulted and large temple. Although at first glance it appears modern, as it has undergone intervention that has altered its original appearance, the temple dates back to the 14th century.

Inside, it preserves frescoes by an unknown local hagiographer, which follow the usual pictorial program of the time. Among them, the sinners of the Second Coming are of interest.
