Finikas beach

Finikas (or Phoenix) is a small harbor in province Sfakia, located 83km south of Chania city, about 700m west of Loutro in the wider area of Livaniana village. It is named after the ancient town of Phoenix, ruins of which are still found near Loutro and was the port of ancient Anopolis. Finikas is crossed by the part of the European E4 hiking trail connecting Marmara beach (Aradena Gorge exit) with the village of Loutro. Some meters to the west, there is a huge rock separating Finikas from Likos harbour.

Inside the port of Finikas a beautiful beach with pebbles is formed, relatively organized with umbrellas and canoes. From here there are boat trips to and from Loutro and Marmara at reasonable prices. Right on the beach there is a picturesque tavern and several rooms where one can enjoy the tranquility of the area.

You can reach Finikas through a passable dirt road coming from Livaniana (via Anopolis). However, the easiest way to reach both beaches is by getting a boat from Chora Sfakion or Loutro.
