Soultanina beach in Sitia
(0 votes)

A few meters north of the main port of the city of Sitia, the main road that leads to the airport passes by Chlouverakis Park. Right next to it is the picturesque cove of Soultanina. Access is very easy either by car or on foot.

The beach is particularly loved by the locals, as, due to its western orientation, it rarely has waves. It has pebbles and beautiful rocks all around, with natural ponds and cavities. Shade can be found all day under the road bridge. In winter, when the large rivers from the inland end up at the long beach of Sitia, swimmers prefer this clean and sheltered spot.

Soultanina takes its name from the wine and grape (sultanina) festival held here in the past. However, it is also known by the name Kokkina (red), from the reddish rocks of the area.
