Almyrida is a small seaside settlement in the vicinity of the village of Sises in the Mylopotamos district, 38 km east of the city of Rethymno. The settlement is not particularly developed, so you will mainly see locals. There is a small fishing shelter here that serves as the port of Sises and is essentially the reason for the settlement's existence.
Next to the port there is a small beach with pebbles, sand and a rocky bottom surrounded by a few tamarisk trees. Don't expect to find any special services, apart from a few rooms and a canteen that serves the needs of the locals.
Most visitors prefer to swim at the more open beach of Aliki, which is located a few meters to the east, where the fertile valley of Sises ends.
