The beach of Charakiani is located below the church of Panagia Charakiani, which is the second most visited pilgrimage site in Crete and belongs to the Melidoni village.
Here there is a fairly rocky beach with large pebbles, which is popular mainly with fishermen. In some places there is a sandy bottom.
The beach is very easily accessible via a short path that starts from the church and the National Road. It is very easy to locate, since there is the islet of Nissaki right opposite.
