Kakoskalo beach is located 70 km southwest of Heraklion, on the borders of Tymbaki and Agia Galini. The beach starts northwest of the port of Kokkinos Pyrgos, below the greenhouses in Makrymaliana area and extends to Agia Galini.
The easiest access is from the coastal road that starts east of Agia Galini. It is a completely isolated beach, and you are sure to find a spot where you will be completely alone.
Near Kokkinos Pyrgos the beach is quite wide, but heading towards Agia Galini, the large earthen masses of Troullida rise, resulting in some places being very narrow and "disappearing" when there are high waves.
The rock formations of the beach that have been sculpted by the wind and the sea are impressive. Due to the loose soil, the coastal road often faces problems from landslides.
