Gorges of Crete

Lower Mythi Gorge
(1 Vote)

Lower Gorge (Kato Farangi) is located in the region of the village Mythi in the province Ierapetra. It is the last rocky part of the stream that runs through the river Myrtos or Kriopotamos.

It is actually the continuation of the well-known Sarakina gorge at a lower level (hence the name), but remains completely unknown. From the exit of Kato Farangi, the stream turns into a very wide river that ends smoothly on Myrtos beach.

Kato Farangi is very short, only 200 meters long, but still is extremely impressive due to the narrowness of its walls. Crossing it until early summer is impossible without getting wet.
