Vougiou Mati beach 
Vougiou Mati lies on the southern coast of Chrissi Island and was once the main landing point for excursion boats arriving from Ierapetra. West of the quay is a small rocky bay with low sea caves that offer quiet and secluded spots. To the east lies a long beach with a rocky seabed, which visitors often prefer when the northern coast and the island’s main beach, Belegrina or Golden Beach, are affected by waves.
The beach lies in front of the extensive protected juniper wood of Chrissi. To protect this particularly fragile ecosystem, visitors are not permitted to enter the woodland.
