Shelter Prinos at Asites

The mountain shelter Prinos is located at an altitude of 1100m at the eastern slopes of Psiloritis Mount and in the periphery of the villageAno Asites. It can be accessed either by hiking 2:00 hours from Ano Assites or one can drive in a dirt track. From here one can hike to the nearby peaks of Koudouni, Gyristi, Rouvas forest (4 hours) and Nida Plateau (7 hours) through the E4 hiking footpath

The shelter has been operating since 1967 and can accommodate 30 people. It is available upon request to its operator, i.e. the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion (eos-her.gr). It is heated by stove and fireplace, is fully equipped with kitchen (with gas and wood), electricity is given by generator, and water is collected in a reservoir while there are toilets inside the shelter. There is also a large dining room.
