Panagia Keralimeniotissa Gorge
(4 votes)

The canyon of Panagia (Virgin Mary), also known as Kalami I is parallel to the gorge Xerofarago or Kalami II and takes its name after the former monastery of Panagia Keralimeniotissa located at its exit.

It is technical gorge, about 600 meters long, with six rappels, the highest of which being about 15 meters. It has plenty of vegetation, special beauty and the riverbed has water till spring. It is adequately secured and the crossing time (with canyoning equipment) is about 1:30 hours.

If you have two cars and want to leave them at the exit and at the entrance of the gorge, the distance between the two parking sites is about 2.5 km (10 minutes). Alternatively, you can reach the entrance by hiking along the gorge walls for about 20-25 minutes.
