Ski mountaineering, an exciting winter sport that combines trekking on snow-covered surfaces with skiing, attracts an increasing number of fans in Crete. Many Cretans tend to climb up the whitewashed mountains and descend slopes on skis or snowboard. Psiloritis and Lefka Ori are considered ideal for ski mountaineering, while Dikti range has also some places to visit.
It is interesting that near Anogia we can still see the remnants of the former Ski Resort, which does not operate today.
