In the eastern part of the area of Agios Nikolaos and between Kalo Chorio and Prina, the gorge of Katsikandara is formed. It is a route that combines water, shade and lush vegetation with impressive rocky passages.
The hike starts from the area of Pyrgos in the province of Meramvelo, at a low altitude, initially passing by the old two-story watermill of Bentouras. A little later, the visitor comes across Marmara, where we find scattered architectural members from temples, probably from the ancient city of Istron. From there the path gradually leads to the entrance of the gorge.
Katsikandara is characterized by lush vegetation, running water almost all year round and small natural ponds. At some points, the passages narrow and become rockier, but without presenting any particular difficulty for the average walker.
At some point, the path leaves the gorge bed and follows a stone-built cobblestone path, which previously connected Prina with Kalo Chorio and through a pine forest ends at Prina.
