Koundouros villa at Agios Nikolaos
(3 votes)

In the area Ormos of the town of Agios Nikolaos and in a steep area facing the islets of Agioi Pantes and Psira, we meet the historical villa of director Nikos Koundouros (1926 - 2017).

The villa is known for filming one of the most famous Greek movies "Neraida and Palikari" with Aliki Vougiouklaki and Dimitris Papamichail in 1969. In the script of the movie, it was the home of the Vrontakis family and many of its scenes were filmed here. Other scenes were filmed at Panagia Kera in Kritsa, at Agios Nikolaos Lake and at the Venetian Port of Chania.

The three-story house is built on the cliff and steps lead to a beautiful pier built on the rocks. All around the cliffs have caves where pigeons nest, while a small rocky beach is also formed. The villa today belongs to a Russian company, thus whoever wants to visit its beach, can only approach it from the sea and enjoy swimming in the deep blue waters.
