Trail Kapetaniana - Agios Ioannis - Salamias
(0 votes)

This route connects Kapetaniana with Agios Ioannis and then heads west to the beach of Salamias. The first part to Agios Ioannis on the side of the wild gorge of Goula is fairly steep and instable in some places. Then we meet the village of Agios Ioannis and the cavernous temple of the old monastery of Saint John.

This section to Agios Ioannis can alternatively be done much more easily through hiking in trails and part of the dirt road leading from Kapetaniana to Agios Ioannis.

From Agios Ioannis we walk in a trail along the coast, among pine trees and bushes and across the gorges Koumos and Gerakia. We make a small detour to the cave of Peristeras, formed just above the sea. From there we move west and soon reach the secluded bay of Salamias with its small rocky beaches.
