The Pirates’ Fjord is located 33km south of Rethymnon, in a secluded cove south of Mouri or Karavos Cape, near Plakias. It is a very narrow cove, formed between enormous vertical cliffs. The tiny beach shaped here has sand at its starting point and doesn’t exceed 2m in width.
The valley of St. George is located 3km west of Agia Galini, 69km southeast of Heraklion and 60km south of Rethymno. There are two small bays with wonderful pebbly beaches, which are separated by a rocky shore. The weather here is always mild, making the beaches ideal for swimming all year round.
Το Σπήλαιο Λαβύρινθος βρίσκεται 50χλμ νότια του Ηρακλείου, σε ένα μικρό λόφο 3,5km βόρεια του Καστελίου Μεσαράς. Ήταν ένα τεράστιο τεχνητό σπήλαιο με δαιδαλώδεις διαδρόμους μήκους μεγαλύτερους των 2.5km και δωμάτια που δεν οδηγούσαν πουθενά, το οποίο αποτέλεσε λατομείο για την εξόρυξη των λίθων που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την κατασκευή του μινωικού ανακτόρου της Φαιστού, της μινωικής έπαυλης της Αγίας Τριάδας, της ρωμαϊκής πόλης Γόρτυνας, κα.
Στο γεμάτο πηγές, νερά και δάση χωριό Ορεινό Σητείας συναντάμε ένα από τα πιο ορμητικά ποτάμια της Κρήτης. Οι πηγές του βρίσκονται ψηλά στο οροπέδιο Αμπέλια στις πλαγιές της Θρυπτής και της Παπούρας. Σχηματίζουν σύντομα ποτάμι το οποίο αφού διασχίσει την πλατεία του χωριού εισχωρεί στο άγριο φαράγγι του Ορεινού. Το φαράγγι είναι τεχνικό και η διάσχισή του απαιτεί εξοπλισμό, δημιουργεί εντυπωσιακούς καταρράκτες με λίμνες και ιδιαίτερα στο τελευταίο κομμάτι του είναι ένα πραγματικό θαύμα της φύσης.
Το Θόλος βρίσκεται 26 χλμ ανατολικά του Αγίου Νικολάου και 4 χλμ βόρεια του χωριού Καβούσι. Θα ακούσετε πολλούς να αναφέρονται στο Θόλος κι ως παραλία Καβουσίου. Σχηματίζεται στην έξοδο μιας εύφορης κοιλάδας, κατάφυτης από τεράστιους ελαιώνες, η οποία ξεκινάει κοντά στο Καβούσι. Η περιοχή έχει αναπτυχθεί τουριστικά, αλλά σε πολύ ήπιο βαθμό, κάνοντας την ιδανική για ήρεμες διακοπές.
Tholos is located 26km east of Agios Nikolaos and 4km north of the village Kavousi. Locals might also call it Kavoussi beach, due to the nearby village. The beach is formed at the exit of a fertile valley, surrounded by huge olive groves and vine groves. The region has been touristically developed, but very mildly, being ideal for a relaxing holiday.
The large waterfall in the gorge Kourtaliotis is one of the most beautiful places that one can visit in Crete. It is formed just below the church of Saint Nicholas Kourtaliotis.
The area is famous for the cave located close to the village, where in 1823 a large number of locals moved in the cave to escape from the Turks, but they massacred many of them after 15 days. Today, Milatos is touristically developed and hosts an important fishing harbor. The surrounding area is full with large olive groves and the coast is full of small rocky coves. Among them there are several beaches where you can swim.
