Η Πλάκα βρίσκεται 16 χλμ βόρεια του Αγίου Νικολάου, απέναντι από την είσοδο της λιμνοθάλασσας του Κόρφου (δηλαδή της Ελούντας), σε ένα από τα ομορφότερα σημεία της Κρήτης. Σήμα κατατεθέν της Πλάκας είναι η υπέροχη θέα στο νησί Καλυδών, όπου βρίσκεται το διάσημο φρούριο της Σπιναλόγκας που λειτούργησε ως λεπροκομείο, όλο το πρώτο μισό του 20ου αιώνα.

Kritsa Gorge starts near the picturesque village of Kritsa, 9.5km southwest of Agios Nikolaos, and ends at the village Tapes. It’s 4km long, reaching a width of only 1.5m in some places. It is easily accessible with a few points that need attention, where you have to climb over some big rocks (not too hard). The only time you should not visit the gorge is when it has rained previously and there are ponds in the gorge, which block the passages.

Το τοπίο στη νοτιότερη παραλία της Ευρώπης είναι υπέροχο με σήμα κατατεθέν τις τρεις μεγάλες φυσικές καμάρες, τις Καμαρέλλες, που σχηματίζονται στη γωνία του νησιού δηλαδή στο ανατολικό τέρμα της παραλίας (από αυτές τις «τρύπες» παίρνει το όνομα της η παραλία).

The coastal trail connecting Sougia to Agia Roumeli is one of the most mountainous, tiring, but also beautiful parts of E4 European trail in Crete. The trail starts from ancient Syia (Sougia), runs through Tripiti and Domata beaches, ascends to 550m altitude and descends to Agia Roumeli.

Agia Galini is one of the most popular seaside resorts of southern Rethymnon, situated next to the exit of the Amarianos River, 61km south of Rethymno city and 68km southwest of Heraklion. This small town is bustling with life during the summer months and provides all the necessary touristic amenities.

The canyon Aposelemis exits at the settlement Agrianá (or Adrianna as its inhabitants call it). It is the longest and most important geological canyon in the northern part of the prefecture of Heraklion.

From the exotic lagoon of Lafonisi, located 4.5km south of Chrysoskalitissa, starts the coastal trail to Paleochora. Originally, it comes from the stunning Kedrodasos beach, passes from the church of St. John, the ancient sanctuary of Viena, Krios Cape, and then from the beaches to the west of Paleochora. The trail is one of the nicest parts of the European trail E4.

Tsoutsouras or Tsoutsouros (deriving from the Venetian word Zuzzuro) is located 63km south of Heraklion, at the exit of the imposing Gorge of Mindris. It is built on the site of the ancient city Inatos, which was the port of Priansos (located near Kasteliana village).
