Το Φωτεινάρι βρίσκεται 37 χλμ νότια του Ρεθύμνου, ανάμεσα στον Πλακιά και στην παραλία της Σούδας. Στο Φωτεινάρι υπάρχουν δύο πανέμορφες απάνεμες παραλίες, οι οποίες σχηματίζονται στο μυχό δύο κατάφυτων κόλπων. Ο βυθός της περιοχής είναι ιδανικός για ψάρεμα και μάσκα
Η Ιερά Μονή Οσίας Ειρήνης Χρυσοβαλάντου Ηρακλείου (εορτ. 28 Ιουλίου), βρίσκεται στις νότιες παρυφές της πόλης. Ιδρύθηκε, ως Ανδρώα Κοινοβιακή Μονή στις 14 Απριλίου 2002 από τον Μεθόδιο Σαμαριτάκη. Σήμερα αριθμεί λίγους μοναχούς που ασχολούνται με την παραγωγή κεριού και θυμιάματος κ.α.

Arkoudospilios (Bear Cave) or the Cave of Panagia Arkoudiotissa is located in Avlaki gorge of Akrotiri (Chania), 2km north of the Gouvernetou monastery, in the gorge connecting Gouvernetou with Katholiko Monastery. The cave is known for the bear-shaped rock that made the cave a place of worship of the ancient goddess Artemis.
The village retains the traditional elements of Crete intact and is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday. The beach is the longest in the area with a length exceeding 1.5km, bounded on the north by the Cape Tenta and on the south by the Cape Plaka. It has fine brown sand, shallow turquoise waters, and several tamarisk trees around it. It is slightly organized in some areas with umbrellas, showers, and beach bars.
