Voukolies village is located at the 27th kilometer of the road Chania - Kandanos - Paleochora. It was initially a Turkish village and in 1866 the Turks, in order to consolidate their position, built a strong tower southwest of the village and within half a kilometer from Voukolies.
Το φαράγγι της Παναγιάς (γνωστό κι ως Καλάμι Ι) είναι παράλληλο με το Ξεροφάραγγο ή Καλάμι ΙΙ και παίρνει το όνομά του από την πρώην μονή της Παναγίας της Κεραλιμενιώτισσας που βρίσκεται στην έξοδό του.
The red tulip of Crete (Tulipa doerfleri) is one of the 5 endemic tulip species of Crete. It grows exclusively at the small plateau of Gious Cambos, by Amari Valley, at an altitude ranging from 700-800m. In spring (April) this small plateau is covered by a red carpet made of tulips.
Το σπήλαιο της Ινατίας Ειλειθυίας στον Τσούτσουρα θεωρείται από τα σπουδαιότερα λατρευτικά σπήλαια της αρχαιότητας, από τα πρωτογεωμετρικά χρόνια ως και τα πρωτοχριστιανικά (5ος αιώνας). Εδώ λατρευόταν η Ειλείθυια, κόρη του Δία και της Ήρας, που ήταν η θεά του τοκετού.
The Cave of Fragantonis is located 700m south-southwest of Malia, at the foot of the mountain Volakias, at an altitude of 20m and below the new highway. The cave has two entrances. A low and another from its roof. The low faces north, with a width of about one meter but access from there is a bit difficult because of the rocks brought by the rainwater.
To get in, you have to crawl, cross the first chamber and reach the main space of the cave. It is a very large room with a small lake. Inside the cave flows an underground river, as proved by the rumbling sounds within. The ceiling is adorned with stalactites while the floor is covered with clay.
Η Μονή του Αγίου Αντωνίου Άρβης είναι κτισμένη κοντά στην έξοδο του φαραγγιού της Άρβης, σε μια ψηλή τοποθεσία με πανοραμική θέα στην θάλασσα της Άρβης. Σήμερα είναι εγκαταλελειμμένη και μόνο ερείπια κελιών μαρτυρούν το παρελθόν της.
Το φαράγγι της Μαγγανίστρας ξεκινάει από τον έρημο οικισμό Πατεριανά και καταλήγει στις Λουσακιές μετά από πορεία 3 χλμ. Εκατέρωθεν υψώνονται οι κορφές της Κουβάρας και των Προφήτη Ηλία. Έχει νερό ως τις αρχές καλοκαιριού και η πορεία μέσα σε αυτό είναι μέτριας δυσκολίας.
