The Koules of Spaniakos controlled the valleys, the passages and the towering peaks around it, while on the south lies the Libyan Sea. It had a very important role in the suppression of the revolution of 1866-1869.

The fort, according to a Turkish inscription on its outside walls, was built in 1740-1741. It was presumably founded by an Islamized Venetian nobleman who belonged to the family of Zeni, and was named Tsin Ali or Tzinalis. Tzinalis is a real historical person and was one of the toughest janissaries of Sitia.

The museum has been housed since 1997 in the church of the monastery of San Salvatore, dating probably from the 15th century, next to the bastions on the west side of the Venetian fortifications of Chania.

Η μονή της Αγίας Αναστασίας της Ρωμαίας, η πρώτη στην Ελλάδα μονή αφιερωμένη σε αυτήν, ιδρύθηκε το 2008 και άρχισε τη λειτουργία της τον Ιούλιο του 2009. Εκτός από τον κύριο ναό της Αγίας Αναστασίας που εορτάζει στις 29 Οκτωβρίου, υπάρχει το παρεκκλήσι του Αγίου Κοσμά του Αιτωλού.

Монастырь Арсаниу расположен в 12 км от города Ретимно, рядом со старой национальной дорогой. Монастырь окружают оливковые поля, кипарисовые деревья и прекрасные виды.

In Omalos there is nothing, except from the small chapel dedicated to the Holly Spirit. The plateau is only used by local shepherds during the summer months. On every winter the plateau is dressed in white, making the landscape very beautiful. When the snow melts in the center of the plateau a small lake is formed, which is still there till early summer.

Το φρούριο της Βόιλας βρίσκεται 1km μακρυά από το χωριό του Χανδρά, στο πανέμορφο οροπέδιο της Ζήρου. Η Βόιλα ήταν ένα μικρό μεσαιωνικό χωριό, το οποίο έχει ερειπωθεί σήμερα, όπως πολλά χωριά στην περιοχή.

Η Κρήνη Σαγκρέντο είναι μία από τις ιστορικές ενετικές κρήνες του Ηρακλείου και βρίσκεται σήμερα εντοιχισμένη στη βόρεια πλευρά της Ενετικής Λότζια. Κατασκευάστηκε μεταξύ 1602 και 1604 με πρωτοβουλία του Δούκα της Κρήτης Τζιοβάνι Σαγκρέντο, για να εξυπηρετεί τη Λότζια.
