Priniatikos Pirgos is a small peninsula that separates the two beaches of Agios Panteleimon Karavostasis upon which an important Minoan settlement has been identified. The settlement has been mapped by the American and Irish Archaeological School. It was inhabited from the Minoan till the Ottoman Era and was highly depended on its harbor. Important findings are kilns for ceramics production.
In the Province of Selino (the wider area of Paleochora), in Sougia Koyles were built in the positions Boukelasi, Koustogerako, Kefala in Rodovani (ancient Elyros), Stavros near Kantanos, Moustakos, Spaniako and Vigles. The Koules of Spaniako controlled the valleys, the passages and the towering peaks around it, while on the south lies the Libyan Sea.
Στη Ταύρη υπάρχει ένα μεγάλο ορεινό καταφύγιο 42 κλινών, όπου μπορεί να μείνει οποιοσδήποτε. Η ομορφιά του τοπίου είναι απερίγραπτη, καθώς η θέα στην κορυφή Κάστρο (2215m) των Λευκών Όρεων προκαλεί δέος. Από εδώ ξεκινάει και το μονοπάτι για την κορυφή. Η Ταύρη ντύνεται συχνά στα άσπρα, ενώ λέγεται ότι εδώ έκαναν για πρώτη φορά σκι στην Κρήτη. Επίσης εδώ υπάρχει το εκκλησάκι του Αγίου Πνεύματος, πετρόκτιστο και απόλυτα εναρμονισμένο με το τοπίο.
Atziganospilios is located within short distance (10 min) from the village of Adrianos, in site Koukistres. It is about 25km southwest of Agios Nikolaos and belongs to the village of Zenia, which you meet as you ascend to the Plateau of Lassithi through the road starting in Neapolis.
Στο λόφο Γρίβιλα που ανήκει στην κοινότητα Αχλαδέ Μυλοποτάμου είναι κτισμένος ο ναός του Αγίου Φανουρίου. Περίπου 100μ από το ναό υπάρχει ένα ιδιαίτερο δέντρο, το οποίο έχει συνδεθεί με μια λατρευτική παράδοση που έχει τις ρίζες της στα πανάρχαια δεντρολατρικά έθιμα της Κρήτης. Το σημείο λέγεται Εύρεση καθώς εδώ λένε ότι βρέθηκε η εικόνα του Αγίου Φανουρίου.
The shelter of Tavri is located at an altitude of 1200m at the plateau of Tavri, by Askyfou. It can be access by walking 1:30 hours in the cypresswooded trail starting from village Ammoudari (or dricing a 7.5km long dirt track). From this refuge you can walk to Kastro peak, cross Sfakiano or Kavi Gorges.
Η οικία του Γιάννη Χρονάκη είναι ένα πανέμορφο Οθωμανικό αριστοκρατικό σπίτι στο κέντρο του Ηρακλείου, που ανήκε στον μπέη Ρασίχ Ασπράκη. Αναστηλώθηκε το 1991 και φιλοξενεί διάφορα αντικείμενα τέχνης. Εκτός από τα εκθέματα, ο επισκέπτης μπορεί να δει το χαμάμ, την εσωτερική κρήνη, τις τοιχογραφίες, τις ξυλοκατασκευές και τις πλούσιες διακοσμήσεις των ταβανιών που κοσμούσαν το εξαιρετικό αυτό δείγμα Οθωμανικού αρχοντικού σπιτιού.
The Plateau of Lapathos is located about 77km southeast of Heraklion and 36km west of Ierapetra, near Kato Symi village. It is a small but beautiful plateau. The background of the plateau is the wild beauty of the Lasithi mountains and the slopes of Selakano. The vegetation in the Plateau is not dense and there are many rocky places.
