Τα τάματα που σήμερα συναντάμε στους μικρούς και μεγάλους ναούς της Κρήτης έχουν μια πανάρχαια καταγωγή και προέλευση. Είναι η συνέχεια των ταμάτων που υπήρχαν στα ιερά στην αρχαία εποχή.
In a lush green ravine formed between Analipsis and Pefki we meet the former monastery of St. George of Samakidis. The church celebrates on November 3rd and is built in a cave. According to tradition, in 1471 Joseph Samakidis, who lived in the monastery of Panagia Kera by village Pilalimata left his monastery due to pirate raid.
Throughout the island of Crete we meet several deserted villages and settlements. One of them is the deserted Metohi of Saridakides just above the village Rotasi in prefecture Heraklion, on the road that ascends to Ethia. The settlement of Saridakides is one of mong the most picturesque of Crete with small stone houses where the residents lived during the season of agricultural works in the area.
Βρίσκεται στη δυτική όχθη του ποταμού Αποσελέμη στην πλαγιά απέναντι από το γεμάτο με ρυάκια και ρέματα χωριό Ποταμιές και πολύ κοντά σε αυτό. Η δυτική πλευρά του ναού είναι φυσικός βράχος πάνω στον οποίο εχει κολλήσει η υπόλοιπη κατασκευή. Από το σημείο του ναού ο οποίος είναι πνιγμένος στο πράσινο με κουμαριές να κρέμονται από πάνω του έχουμε πολύ καλή θέα στην κοιλάδα του Αποσελέμη και στις Ποταμιές.
Η παραλία Μπογάζι σχηματίζεται σε απομονωμένη περιοχή στα όρια της κοινότητας Σισών της επαρχίας Μυλοποτάμου στα Ταλαία Όρη, ανατολικά από το Γερμανικό φυλάκιο της κορφής Πύργος.
The church of Panagia Kardiotissa is located at position Livada or Arkolio, south of Fourfouras, and operated as a small nunnery. Today we see the temple devoted to Birth of the Virgin and there are some traces and from the nun cells. The interior of the church bears traces of frescoes of the 15th century, of which stand out the depictions of Saint George and the Second Coming.
The temple of Lord Christ is located at the beautiful neighbourhood Lazopouliana at village Temenia. It is a Byzantine church built at two phases; the first was in the 13th century and the initial temple was single aisled. The domed part of the church was added in the 14th century. The walls bear beautiful frescoes dating back from the 13th century.
Στο σημείο αυτό, στο δρόμο προς την Αλόιδα, λειτουργούσε κατά την Τουρκοκρατία μονή αφιερωμένη στους Αγίους Αποστόλους, με λίγους μοναχούς. Όταν το 1823 ο Χασάν Πασάς επιτέθηκε στο Οροπέδιο από την πλευρά αυτή, αφού κατέκαψε την Κριτσά έφτασε στο σημείο αυτό και κατέστρεψε τη μονή.
