The double-aisled church of St. Nicholas and St. Anne is located at the village Elenes. The aisled of Saint Nicholas bears frescoes dating back from the 13th century, although an inscription tells 1609. The aisle of St Anne bears new frescoes.
At Agii Pantes village, by Fres village, there is the Byzantine church of All Saints (Agii Pantes). The church looks like a three nave basilica with smaller central nave, but is actually a cruciform temple with a large dome.
The Small Serai is located at 21 Evropis Street and was used as the residence of Little Bey, a wealthy Muslim Cretan. Today it is a privately property and operates as a restaurant.
The impressive church of the Archangel Michael (celebr. November 8) on the edge of the canyon of Aradena is a cruciform church with a dome and is dated back from the 14th century, built on a former basilica of the 5-6th century that belonged to the city Aradin. It bears frescoes of the 14th centur and a mark with the date 1546.
This part of the E4 trail is quite easy and offers some nice views to the fertile valleys and vineyards of Heraklion prefecture. The route starts from Ano Asites and firstly meets the cavernous church of Saint Anthony and finishes at Prifitis Ilias. Note that there are long parts along roads, thus you could split the route into smaller parts and overcome some with a car or bike.
The Church of Transfiguration of Christ is located in the beautiful canyon Orino and you will meet it during the descent of the trail that leads in Koutsouras. The church bears remarkable frescoes in very good condition and has impressive architecture, as it is a single-nave barrel-vaulted with two equal-sized rooms on the sides.
Κάτω και ανατολικά του αρχαιολογικού χώρου της Αρχαίας Ριζηνίας και του ναού του Αγίου Παντελεήμονα στο λόφο της Πατέλας του Πρινιά, μετά από βροχή σχηματίζεται ένας όμορφος και εντελώς άγνωστος καταρράκτης ύψους περίπου 10 μέτρων. Στο σημείο φτάνουμε μέσω σχετικά βατού χωματόδρομου που οδηγεί σε διπλανή στάνη και η θέα στην τριγύρω περιοχή είναι μοναδική. Από το σημείο που παρκάρουμε η πρόσβαση είναι πολύ εύκολη με τα πόδια.
Δίπλα στον Αξεδιανό Ποταμό και κοντά στα Πηρουνιανά συναντάμε τον Βυζαντινό ναό του Αγίου Γεωργίου του Χωστού. Ο αρχικός ναός είχε τρούλο, ενώ στη συνέχεια επεκτάθηκε για να μεγαλώσει. Το τμήμα που έχει τον τρούλο φέρει τοιχογραφίες σε μέτρια κατάσταση.
