The church of St Anna at settlement Anisaraki by Kandanos is one of the most important Byzantine churches of Crete, adorned with very important frescoes dating back from 1457-1462. The iconostasis was painted and bears wooden screen.

The bridge of the village Kato Astraki is called Astrakiani Kamara (Arch of Astraki) and is located a few meters away from the village, on the banks of the River Karteros. Astrakiani Kamara is a magnificent and well preserved arched stone bridge built in the 16th century and is one of the most beautiful of Crete. The bridge was built to connect Astraki with Sgourokefali and the villages of the eastern side of the river Karteros.

The church of Lord Christ the Savior is a single-aisled with two arches and exquisite frescoes dedicated to the Transformation of Christ. An inscription of 1303 indicates that the painters were Theodoros Daniel and Michael Veneris. The narthex frescoes date back from the 15th century.
Στο σημείο αυτό, μέσα σε ένα κατάφυτο περιβάλλον, λειτούργησε μοναστήρι αφιερωμένο στον Τίμιο Σταυρό. Σήμερα η μονή δεν λειτουργεί. Οι εικόνες του ναού ανήκουν στον αγιογράφο Παπαδάκη από τα Ροδωπού (1886) ενώ το τέμπλο χρονολογείται στο στα 1883.
The small village of Prodromi at province Selino hosts some very old temples with wall frescues of the Venetian era. One of them, Panagia Skafidiani is located at position Skafidakia or Skafidia and has beautiful views to the surrounding area. Inside it bears frescoes dating back from 1347 by painter Ioakim, who belonged to the workshop of the famous painter of Eastern Crete, Ioannis Pagomenos.
