Η συλλογή αποτελείται από καθημερινά αντικείμενα που Κρητικού παρελθόντος, που δωρήθηκαν από τους κατοίκους. Ανάμεσα τους θα δείτε αργαλειούς, πατητήρια σταφυλιών, κηροποιείο, πιθάρια, εργαλεία, μηχανές γνεσίματος, λύχνους και άλλα.
Δυτικά της κωμόπολης του Αρκαλοχωρίου υψώνεται ο ιερός για του Μινωίτες βράχος του Προφήτη Ηλία, με το ομώνυμο εκκλησάκι στην κορυφή και το λατρευτικό σπήλαιο του Αρκαλοχωρίου. Στην πλαγιά που κοιτάει προς το Αρκαλοχώρι έχει εντοπιστεί οικισμός που κατοικήθηκε από τους Μινωίτες ως και την Οθωμανική εποχή.
Between the villages Koxare and Atsipades we meet the wonderful stone arched bridge of Koxare (named Old Arch), which served the residents of the two villages in past times. The river below the bridge runs through the canyon Kourtaliotis and ends at Preveli beach.
The monastery of Saint Anthony Sfougaras is located at the village Selles and its temple was built in a cave by the sea. Next to the cave temple there are other caves with built walls that probably were used as monk cells. The paved garden hosts a water tank.
Agios Panteleimonas is a Byzantine church that must be one of the oldest in Crete. It is about 3 Km away from Kasteli. On the outer walls of the church, there are marble crosses and inscriptions that must belong to an older Roman or Byzantine building.
The house of John Chronakis is a beautiful Ottoman house in the center of Heraklion, which belonged to the Bey Rasih Asprakis. It was restored in 1991 and houses various art objects. Apart from the exhibits, the visitor can see the hammam, the indoor fountain, the murals, the woodwork and rich decorations of ceilings of this excellent sample of Ottoman mansion.
The Monastery of St. Anthony is located at an altitude of 536m, north of the village Karydi near Neapolis, on a steep rocky slope. The small monastery today is uninhabited and a program of restoration of its ruined buildings has started.
