The part of the beach west of Listis to the river Anapodaris is called Kamboula. The river is one of the most important Cretan wetlands. The long beach Kamboula is very beautiful, with lovely pebbles and crystal blue waters. This area is no organized, however a very few rooms and apartments have been built in the last years.
Η Κάμινος είναι μια πολύ εύφορη λαγκαδιά με χιλιάδες ελιές που μοιράζεται σε τρία χωριά. Παλαιότερα στην ευρύτερη περιοχής της υπήρχανε και 3 ναοί που ανήκανε στο μεσαιωνικό οικισμό που υπήρχε εκεί και που σήμερα έχει εξαφανιστεί. Οι τρεις ναοί της Καμίνου ήτανε ο πολύ σημαντικός και μεγαλοπρεπής ναός του Μιχαήλ Αρχαγγέλου, ο ναός του Χριστού και ο άγνωστος σήμερα Άγιος Δημήτριος που κατεδαφίστηκε.
В местечке Вигли, на южных склонах долины Мирабелло, находится храм Рождества Богородицы, бывший когда-то кафоликоном монастыря Виглиотиссас. Храм с повышенным сводчатым трансептом, крестообразно пересекающим неф, был полностью восстановлен специалистами 13-го Департамента византийских древностей Министерства культуры Греции.
Ο σπηλαιώδης ναός του Οσίου Ιωάννη του Ξένου βρίσκεται στην τοποθεσία Καβούσι, στην περιφέρεια του χωριού Πλάτανος και έχει μοναδική θέα στην εύφορη κοιλάδα της Φαλάσαρνας. Στο χώρο υπάρχει τάφος που σύμφωνα με την παράδοση ενταφιάστηκε ο Άγιος Ιωάννης ο Ξένος ή Ερημίτης, του οποίου τα λείψανα έχουν πλέον μεταφερθεί στην Κέρκυρα και στον Άγιο Κυρ Γιάννη στα Τσουρουνιανά.
The church of St. George at Floria bears frescoes of Ioannis Provatopoulou (date 1497). Among the paintings there is a representation of the donor of the church (right of entry), while outside the temple we see an embossed decoration.
The deserted monastery of the Assumption (Panagia) at Astirakias is built at an idyllic location on the east side of Arkadi Gorge. This small monastery still saves its main church and some traces of the monk cells, while we will get impressed by the terraces that were used to keep the soil and for cultivation.
The church of Panagia Galatiani or Galeniani is located in Malia and consists of three aisles, as a result of the successive addition of two aisles to the originally single-naved 14th-century temple that today forms the central aisle. The three aisles are dedicated to the Holy Ten Cretan Martyrs (Agii Deka), the Presentation of Mary (Panagia) and Saint Charalambos
At the small and picturesque village Galype at province Pediada we meet a very remarkable church dedicated to the Assumption of Virgin Mary (Panagia). The church of Panagia celebrates on August 15 and it is a good opportunity for someone to visit the interior of the temple (as it is locked all yaer round for its protection).
