The church of Panagia (Our Lady) Petraida or Petradia was the temple of a small monastery that operated here in the 16th century, possibly as a dependency of the monastery of Asomati. The only surviving element of the monastery is located above the entrance, which bears the date 1843 and the name of monk Joseph who was an abbot in 1860.
During the Venetian era, according to oral tradition, left three rich nobles from Sitia and moved to the west end of Lasithi, in the province of Mirabello. Three they founded three small villages, one for each of them. Noble named Fiorentzis built the current settlement of Fioretzides by Lakonia. Demetzos (De Metzo) founded the village Agia Pelagia. Katrinis built Lousestro.
Ο σημερινός μονόχωρος ναός που είναι κτισμένος ακριβώς στο ίδιο σημείο με τον παλιό είναι αρκετά απλός με λιτή διακόσμηση στο εσωτερικό του. Το στοιχείο που μαρτυρά την παλαιότητά του είναι η βάση του τοίχου της ανατολικής πλευράς του ναού που είναι απομεινάρι του παλαιότερου κτίσματος και εξέχει φανερά από το μεταγενέστερο τοιχίο που υπάρχει από την βάση και πάνω.
Σε μια απόμερη και καταπράσινη τοποθεσία βόρεια από το χωριό Πενταμόδι, ένας χωματόδρομος μας οδηγεί στο μικρό μονόχωρο ναό της Αγίας Παρασκευής. Ο περιβάλλων χώρος του ναού είναι όμορφα διαμορφωμένος και εδώ διοργανώνονται συχνά πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις.
Одним из известных памятников в деревни Вуколиес являлась башня, построенная турками для укрепления их позиций в 1866 году, в юго-западной части поселения, останки которой можно увидеть и сегодня.
Gazanos River gathers the water from the eastern slopes of Psiloritis Range and is one of the most important rivers in Crete. Initially it gathers water from the areas around Asites and then merges with the stream of Kroussonas in the village Sarchos. Then it crosses from the beautiful area Kolimbithres with the small waterfall Xepatomenos, and just before Gazi it merges with the stream coming through the Goniano gorge.

Рядом с пляжем Фафлагос находился монастырь Агиос Прокопиос, разрушенный арабами. После разрушения монастыря, монахи решили покинуть побережье и построить (в 855г.) новый монастырь, посвященный Деве Марии. Новый монастырь был построен в хорошо спрятанном месте, незаметном с моря.
