Η Αμμουδάρα είναι μια τεράστια παραλία που ξεκινάει 1 χλμ δυτικά από το κέντρο του Ηρακλείου και φτάνει ως τις εκβολές του Αλμυρού ποταμού, 7 χλμ δυτικότερα. Αποτελεί πλέον ένα προάστιο του Ηρακλείου, το οποίο έχει αναπτυχθεί τουριστικά κυρίως λόγω της τεράστιας παραλίας.
Makrigialos is located 58km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 23km east of Ierapetra. It is a large village, located near the exit of the lush canyon of Pefki. Being initially a humble harbor with no roads in the ‘50s, Makrigialos has faced strong growth and has become the largest tourist destination in the region. It actually consists of two settlements, Makrigialos and Analipsi, which are now united.
Ammoudi is located just 1km north of Agios Nikolaos city centre, in a large and well protected bay. It is a small sandy beach with shallow waters, which is preferred both by locals and visitors. It is hidden among large tamarisk trees and picturesque buildings, offering many options for accommodation and eating around. The beach has also water sport facilities.
Chora Sfakíon or Sfakia is a small town on the south coast of Chania. It is the capital of the remote and mountainous region of Sfakia, and is a small town of just 278 inhabitants (2001 census). It lies on the south coast near the end of the Imbros Gorge, 74km south of Chania.
Η Άσπρη Λίμνη αποτελεί μια από τις πιο μαγευτικές παραλίες της Κρήτης, σχεδόν άγνωστη σε όλους. Βρίσκεται 500m δυτικά της Μονής Χρυσοσκαλίτισσας και 70km νοτιοδυτικά των Χανίων. The Cave of Melidoni is located approximately 1,800 meters northwest of the homonym village of Mylopotamos. Gerontospilios, as also called, is very important due to the archaeological findings, some of which are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon. Moreover, the cave has played a tragic role in the history of Cretan revolution against the Turks, in 1824.
Η Γεωργιούπολη είναι ένα τουριστικό θέρετρο που βρίσκεται 38 χλμ ανατολικά των Χανίων και 21 χλμ δυτικά του Ρεθύμνου. Είναι μια μικρή παραθαλάσσια κωμόπολη, χτισμένη μέσα σε μια καταπράσινη πεδιάδα, γεμάτη ποτάμια και πηγές. Βρίσκεται στο δυτικό άκρο μιας τεράστιας παραλίας μήκους 10 χλμ.
In Xerokampos the landscape is arid and truly eerie, characterized by bare rocks and steep mountains. The vegetation is limited to bushes and there are some places with a few olive groves. A small tourist destination has started developing during the last years, especially after the roads were paved with asphalt.
