Το σπήλαιο της Περιστεράς βρίσκεται στο βορειοδυτικό άκρο της πεδιάδας του Λιμνάκαρου, νότια του χωριού Αβρακόντε. Όπως διαπιστώθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια επιφανειακής έρευνας, στη μινωική εποχή και πιο συγκεκριμένα στη Μεσομινωική περίοδο, είχε ταφική χρήση. Σήμερα ο μεγάλος χώνος του σπηλαίου είναι γεμάτος γιγάντιους βράχους δυσχεραίνοντας την περιήγηση του σπηλαίου.
If you head west of Papadiokambos settlement, especially on windless days (very rare!), it is worth leaving your car off the road, cross the wire fence and walk 2 minutes to the exit of the gorge starting close to Liopetro area and ending at the beautiful beach of Charkomatas, at position Roussa Limni. You’ll get impressed by the amazing formations of the gorge, shaped by laminated sheets of limestone.
Gate of Jesus or New Gate (Kenourgia Porta) was built on the south side of the Venetian Walls, in today's Evans Street, in 1587. From this gate left those who were heading to the southern provinces of the county. The gate also hosted the pipeline which supplied water to the city.
Η μονή της Αγίας Πελαγίας, μετόχι της μονής Σαββατιανών, βρίσκεται στην κοίτη χειμάρρου που καταλήγει στην ομώνυμη παραλία της Αχλάδας. The Cave Chainospilios is located 200 meters away from the village Kamaraki. The cave is also called Marmarospilios, while many locals call it "Labyrinth". It is a long narrow cave with galleries that are part of an old underground river bed. The cave is still active in most parts. Its length is 200 meters and there is a parallel gallery with a length of 120 meters, which is richly decorated.
Etia is an deserted medieval village, located near Lithines of Sitia province, which in its heyday was the largest village of the area with more than 500 residents. It is worth strolling among the Venetian buildings of the village. Here in the late 15th century, the Venetian master Pietro Dei Mezzo, which was the feudal lord of the surrounding area, built the mansion De Mezzo, known as Villa De Mezzo or Seraglio.
Talos was the mythical guardian of Crete. He was an anthropomorphic giant automoton with copper body. He is regarded as the first robot in ancient mythology. Talos was the vigilant guardian of Crete, circling the island's shores three times daily, in order to protect it from enemies.
