Gorge Chalase or Porofarago starts near the village Sassalos and ends before the village Makronas after 4 hours of course in dense vegetation. Crossing it is not very easy because at one point it has a large scree (chalase) and there is no trail.

The monastery of Agios Georgios in Vrachasi is located 1km southwest of the village Vrachasi, near Neapolis. The monastery has actively participated in the revolutionary movements against the Turks, during which it suffered tremendous damages.

Η κόκκινη τουλίπα της Κρήτης (Tulipa doerfleri) είναι ενδημικό είδος τουλίπας που φύεται σχεδόν αποκλειστικά στο μικρό οροπέδιο του Γιούς Κάμπου, στο Αμάρι Ρεθύμνου. Την άνοιξη το μικρό αυτό οροπέδιο καλύπτεται από ένα κατακόκκινο χαλί από τουλίπες.

Bembo Fountain in Kornarou Square was constructed between 1552 and 1554 by Gianmatteo Bembo, Captain of Crete. It marked the terminus of the first aqueduct to bring fresh spring water into Venetian Candia.

The Gorge of Cyclamen or St George Gorge starts from the settlement Aletrouvari (altitude 300m), passes east of the village of Agios (St) Georgios and ends at the village Vandes (altitude 50 m).

Το σπήλαιο Καμηλάρη είναι ένα εύκολα προσβάσιμο και εντυπωσιακό σπήλαιο του Στρούμπουλα, καθώς βρίσκεται μόλις 200μ από το 13ο χλμ. του παλαιού δρόμου Ηρακλείου – Ρεθύμνου, κοντά στην Τύλισσο και σε υψόμετρο 267μ. Έχει μήκος διαδρομών 200μ, ενώ η είσοδος του έχει πλάτος 10μ και ύψος 4μ.

The Minoan settlement of Petras was built on a low hill near the present city of Sitia. It is believed by many researchers that this was the site of ancient Etea or Etida, from where the sage Myson came from.

Η έρημη Μονή Βαρσαμόνερου βρίσκεται περίπου 53km νοτιοδυτικά του Ηρακλείου, στις νότιες υπερώιες του Ψηλορείτη. Ήταν κτισμένη σε μια πανοραμική περιοχή κοντά στα Βορίζια, με απεριόριστη θέα στην πεδιάδα της Μεσαράς.
