Маяк в Элафониси расположен на окраине популярного полуострова с прекрасными пляжами, на юго-западной окраине округа Ханья. Нынешняя металлическая конструкция маяка была установлена после войны, так как старый каменный маяк был уничтожен немецкими бомбардировщиками.
Το σπήλαιο του Χωστού νερού βρίσκεται στην περιοχή Σελιά του Γιούχτα κοντά στο δρόμο που οδηγεί στην κορυφή του Αφέντη Χριστού. Βρίσκεται σε υψόμετρο περίπου 720μ. στη νοτιότερη κορφή του ιερού βουνού και για να μπορέσει να το δει κανείς πρέπει να μπει έρποντας.
Near the village Margarites we meet is a Late Minoan tomb of 1350 BC, which is considered one of the most important sites of the area. An aisle with carved stones leads to a circular domed tomb. Inside it, the bones of four adults and two children were found. From the findings, it seems that they came from higher social and religious level.
Το φαράγγι της Χωστής βρίσκεται στο σχεδόν ερειπωμένο σήμερα χωριό Χωστή Χανίων, σε μία από τις πλέον όμορφες και πράσινες γωνιές της Κρήτης.. Μακριά από τις γνωστές τουριστικές διαδρομές παραμένει παντελώς άγνωστο και ανέγγιχτο ακόμα.. Δεν θα το βρείτε σε κανένα τουριστικό οδηγό παρότι αποτελεί ένα κόσμημα για τη δυτική Κρήτη, είναι δε ένα από τα πιο όμορφα μικρά φαράγγια η διάσχιση του οποίου δεν απαιτεί εξοπλισμό και δεν παρουσιάζει κάποια δυσκολία.
The exit of the gorge Tsigounis is located 1km west of the village Sfaka, Sitia district, on a turn of the main road connecting central Crete to Sitia. The river flowing through the gorge gets its water from the plateau Monokara and is "stingy" (tsigounis means stingy) as it has small quantities of water only in winter.
Το σπήλαιο της Περιστεράς βρίσκεται στο βορειοδυτικό άκρο της πεδιάδας του Λιμνάκαρου, νότια του χωριού Αβρακόντε. Όπως διαπιστώθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια επιφανειακής έρευνας, στη μινωική εποχή και πιο συγκεκριμένα στη Μεσομινωική περίοδο, είχε ταφική χρήση. Σήμερα ο μεγάλος χώνος του σπηλαίου είναι γεμάτος γιγάντιους βράχους δυσχεραίνοντας την περιήγηση του σπηλαίου.
If you head west of Papadiokambos settlement, especially on windless days (very rare!), it is worth leaving your car off the road, cross the wire fence and walk 2 minutes to the exit of the gorge starting close to Liopetro area and ending at the beautiful beach of Charkomatas, at position Roussa Limni. You’ll get impressed by the amazing formations of the gorge, shaped by laminated sheets of limestone.
Gate of Jesus or New Gate (Kenourgia Porta) was built on the south side of the Venetian Walls, in today's Evans Street, in 1587. From this gate left those who were heading to the southern provinces of the county. The gate also hosted the pipeline which supplied water to the city.
