Λίγα χωριά στην Κρήτη έχουν την τύχη να έχουν ένα καταρράκτη μέσα σχεδόν στο οικιστικό ιστό τους. Ένα από αυτά είναι τα Κάτω Καστελλιανά Μονοφατσίου στα νότια του Ηρακλείου στους πρόποδες των Αστερουσίων. Τα Κάτω Καστελλιανά έχουν στη νότια έξοδο του οικισμού τη Ρίχτρα, ένα πολύ όμορφο καταρράκτη που αποτελεί το καμάρι του τόπου.
If you walk 1 hour east of Vlyhada beach at Livari (by Goudouras), you will soon reach the two deserted beaches of Tihida area. The area is full of caves and takes its name after the wall-like rocks (tihos in Greek) at the small beach, offering shade during summer.

The ancient olive Tree of Vatolakkos is grafted onto wild olive subject. Because of its size it has been declared by the Association of Cretan Olive Municipalities as monumental. Access to it is very easy.
The unknown Minoan settlement of Pirgos is located shortly east of the coastal village of Myrtos, by Ierapetra, on a low hill overlooking the east bank of the River Krygios (Cold). It is located on a position overlooking the sea (south) and the forested mountains of Dikti (north) and was selected for settlement by the Minoans ,after leaving the nearby peak of Fournou Kefali. The settlement flourished from 2200 to 1450BC.
East of Paleokastro (Sitia Province) rises the steep hill Kastri, which separates the beaches of Kouremenos and Chiona. The hill was called Paleo Castro (Old Fort) by the Venetians, after which the current village is named.
Approximately 300m to the east, you'll find several small bays with round pebbles, which are secluded. Kolimbakia or Loutres coves, as they are called by locals, are ideal for snorkeling and fishing, as the rocky bottom is home to plenty of fish. After the coves you will meet the beach in front of a local hotel, Stomio beach, which is well organized with umbrellas, showers, beach-volley court, canoes, sailing, windsurfing and diving facilities.
