Ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά αλλά και όμορφα έθιμα της Κρήτης είναι το έθιμο του Κλήδωνα που έχει τις ρίζες του στην αρχαιότητα. Ο Κλήδωνας (και όχι Κλείδωνας) που προέρχεται από το αρχαιοελληνικό κληδών που σημαίνει το σημάδι ή τον οιωνό γιορτάζεται κάθε χρόνο στις 24 Ιουνίου, ημέρα που τιμάμε το Γενέθλιο του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Προδρόμου.

In the middle of the village there was a three-storey Venetian tower, built by the Venetians to secure their dominance over the wider region. It is considered that the tower belonged to the feudal family of Francesco Vlachos, as the crest of the Vlachos family is still surviving on a tomb in Agios Athanasios position (next to the village). When the Turks conquered the region of Sitia, they found the tower in excellent condition and used it immediately so as to oversee the area.

Ο Ναός της Αγίας Αικατερίνης βρίσκεται σε μικρή απόσταση από τον Άγιο Νικόλαο της Σπλάντζιας. Είναι δίκλιτος με ενιαία πρόσοψη που καταλήγει σε αέτωμα. Στο κέντρο της υπάρχει η βάση δίλοβου καμπαναριού. Η πρόσοψη είναι διαμορφωμένη με τη χρήση πεσσών και λαξευτών γείσων και τα θυρώματα επιστέφονται από γοτθίζοντα ανακουφιστικά τόξα.

The river Axedianos carries water from the area east of Agia Varvara and Agios Thomas and in some places forms some really beautiful waterfalls. In particular, at the site of the picturesque chapel of Panagia Kardiotissa near Agios Thomas, numerous waterfalls are formed, creating a unique setting till the spring.

Vothonas or Lakoudia is a very small plateau located 40km south of Chania city, near to the village Vafes. It can be accessed from Vafes via by a passable dirt road. The landscape of the surrounding mountains is spectacular, with majestic views to the White Mountains and the shores of Georgioupolis.

The Gallery of Viannos is housed in a restored olive oil mill at Keratokambos. The vision of its founder Savvas Petrakis became a reality in 2008, when the gallery was inaugurated by the President of Greece.

Sagredo Fountain is one of the historic Venetian fountains of Heraklion and is now incorporated into the northern wall of the Venetian Loggia. It was constructed between 1602 and 1604 on the initiative of Giovanni Sagredo, Duke of Crete, to supply water to the Loggia.

The Cave Dadoulas or Maxime is an underground river at Dadoulas area by Vrysidi settlement. It has a total routes’ length of 760m, depth of 260m and ends at a siphon (well). It has very rich decor and is characterized as a "living museum of the geological history” of the region.
