Here you will meet the ruins of the monastery Panagia Fraskia (Faschea) mentioned on almost all maps of the Venetian Era, having been one of the most important monasteries in Venetian Crete. Panagia, mentioned by Buontelmonti in 1415, was founded in the late 12th century at the point where the Venetians used as a natural harbor (the cove of Fraskia).
At the lowest point of the ruined village Kolokasia, Sfaki Provice, at the church of the Virgin Mary starts forming a stream. The stream collects the water of the village. After crossing the olive grove of the village it turns to a small, but rugged, gorge called Rechtas or Rektas. Its name means waterfall in the local dialect. A few meters after the start the gorge it forms, indeed, a spectacular waterfall about 20 meters high.
St George Galatas (Milky) at village Asi Gonia is a small single-aisled church. This temple houses one of the famous centuries-old traditions of Crete during the feast of St. on April 23.
The Venetian church of Virgin Mary (Panagia Kera or Faneromeni) is located near the entrance of the town of Archanes. The name Faneromeni (Revealed) is taken after a legend that writes as follows: Once a girl called Maria saw a light at the point where the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary was hidden. The girl then built the first temple.
Το άνοιγμα της καμάρας που κατέρρευσε το 2018 ήταν 10 μέτρα τα οποία ακολουθούσε ελαφρώς ανηφορική προέκταση που χρησίμευε ως διάδρομος ανάβασης στο τόξο της καμάρας η οποία ήταν απίστευτα ανηφορική σε σχέση με τις άλλες γέφυρες της Κρήτης, με κλίση σχεδόν κατακόρυφη.
The gate of St. George is situated on the eastern side of the Walls of Candia, below the current statue of Eleftherios Venizelos. From this gate the city communicated with the eastern Crete and the quarantine (Lazareto - so it is also known as Gate Lazaretto). Another name was Gate Maroulas, as it headed to the neighborhood of Maroulas, near the current school of Kapetanakion.

Ένα από αυτά τα δάση είναι και αυτό στην περιοχή Σοχώρες του χωριού Φωτεινός Ρεθύμνου.
Ο Γαρίπας Κυδωνίας Χανίων πέρα από την φυσική ομορφιά που διαθέτει κρύβει και 2 ερειπωμένες σήμερα κατάγραφες βυζαντινές εκκλησίες. Μία από αυτές είναι ο δίκλιτος ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου και του Αγίου Νικολάου που βρίσκεται σχεδόν πάνω στο δρόμο της περιοχής.
