The village Apostoli in the province of Amari hosts several churches, the most important of which is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The temple is located at the cemetery of the village and is small signle-nave, dating back from the 14th century. The walls bear frescoes that have suffered severe damage.
Thousands of visitors, descending the Samaria gorge, reach Agia Roumeli every day and enjoy their bath in the main beach, Gialos, stretching in front of the taverns. However, there are some very nice and quiet beaches around, one could explore. One of these beaches is Mashali and is actually the west part of the bay of Agia Roumeli.

Περίπου 500μ δυτικά από το λιμάνι που δένουν τα καραβάκια της νήσου Χρυσής βρίσκεται η παραλία Βλυχάδια. Η παραλία έχει μαύρο και κόκκινο χαλικάκι, ενώ ο βυθός είναι βραχώδης. Η τριγύρω βλάστηση είναι χαμηλή και δεν υπάρχει φυσική σκιά. Στο πλάι της παραλίας υπάρχει εικονοστάσι. Είναι μια καλή επιλογή για όσους θέλουν να απομονωθούν στη νότια μεριά του νησιού, ειδικά τις ημέρες που η βόρεια έχει κύμα.
By Sarchos we meet one of the most impressive churches of Cretan innerland with a beautiful relief entrance and rear window, which is dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin Mary. The church dates back to the 14th century and is double-aisled, bearing very important frescoes.
Μέσα στους Κουνάβους υπάρχει ο τρίκλιτος βυζαντινός ναός αφιερωμένος στη Μεταμόρφωσης του Σωτήρα, στον Άγιο Νικόλαο και στον Άγιο Δημήτριο, που είναι και ο καθεδρικός ναός του χωριού. Ο ναός αυτός μοναδικός στο είδος του, καθώς έχει στο κέντρο ένα μεγάλο τρούλο και γύρω απ' αυτόν τέσσερις μικρότερους σε σχήμα σταυρού.
At position Megalo Korasi, north of the Dories village, we meet the small renovated church of Panagia Korasani, which previously served as a small monastery. The chapel was dedicated to Virgin Mary (celebrated November 21).
The fountain is located at Michelidakis street, behind the Historical Museum of Crete. The fountain was not originally here, but adorned the exterior of the house of the doctor Idomeneas Markatatis. We can see two columns with capitals that bear performances with plants and an Ottoman inscription.
