The temple of the Panagia at Zachariana is dedicated to Virgin Mary and dates back from the 10th-11th century. It has a very special architecture, with a free cross with a dome. There are some frescoes surviving in poor condition.
At the western end of the island of Chrissi, the small Cape Kendra is formed and right next to we meet the southernmost beach of the island. There is no high vegetation for shade, while the bottom, as in the whole island, is mainly rocky. You can combine your visit to the lighthouse and Agios Nikolaos with a walk to Kendra.

Στο ψηλότερο σημείο του χωριού Χουδέτσι Πεδιάδος Ηρακλείου στη θέση Μαρολιανά συναντάμε το σπηλαιώδη ναό της Αγίας Παρασκευής.Πρόκειται για ένα πολύ μικρό ναό και με μία σχεδόν τετράγωνη αίθουσα λαξευμένη στο ασβεστολιθικό πέτρωμα της περιοχής.
Δίπλα στο μοναδικό σπίτι στο Γαϊδουρονήσι Ιεράπετρας στην τοποθεσία Σπήλιος συναντάμε την παλιά αλυκή όπου παρήγαγαν αλάτι κατά την αρχαιότητα. Το χειμώνα το σημείο μετατρέπεται σε μια μικρή λίμνη με υφάλμυρο νερό και αποτελεί πόλο έλξης κυρίως για αποδημητικά πτηνά.
The monastery of Panagia Kera Kavallaras operated as a dependency of Dionysiou Monastery at Athos in the 15th century and was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The temple of the ruined monastery is well maintained, but has undergone many alterations. The location oversees the plains of Malevizi and Heraklion.
The settlement of St. John the Evangelist, whose core was the former monastic complex of the monastery of St. John, is situated between the villages Kritsa and Kroustas. According to local tradition the monastery was founded in the second Byzantine period and it is known that it functioned until the late 19th century.
Ανάμεσα στα θερμοκήπια του Φραγκοκάστελου συναντάμε το εγκαταλελειμμένο σήμερα μονύδριο του Αγίου Χαραλάμπους με τη λαμπρή όμως ιστορία. Λέγεται ότι στο χώρο της μονής εγκαταστάθηκαν το 1821 οι μοναχοί Γρηγόριος και Μαγδαληνή, αν και πιστεύεται ότι η μονή ήταν πολύ παλαιότερη.
