One of the nicest gorges of Crete is that of Vrissi on the north side of the White Mountains, crossed by the river Vrissiotis which gathers water from Melidaou area and waters Zourva and Lakki. In the gorge there is the cave - underground river with water springs, while many waterfalls of exquisite beauty are met in several places. The trail to the spring of the cave starts from Lakki and ascends along the walls of the gorge. From the spring starts another downhill trail to Zourva.
Ο φάρος του παλιού λιμανιού των Χανίων αποτελεί το πιο αναγνωρίσιμο σημείο της πόλης, ποζάροντας σε όλους τους ταξιδιωτικούς οδηγούς της Κρήτης. Η ιστορία του φάρου αυτού ξεκινάει από πολύ παλιά, αν και τη σημερινή του μορφή την πήρε από τους Αιγύπτιους τον 19ο αιώνα.
Η Αλμυρίδα βρίσκεται 23 χλμ ανατολικά των Χανίων, στην νότια πλευρά του κόλπου της Σούδας και 1 χλμ δυτικά της Πλάκας. Αποτελεί ένα ήρεμο τουριστικό θέρετρο, με καλές υποδομές και υπέροχη θάλασσα. Η παρθένα ύπαιθρος και οι πράσινοι ελαιώνες γύρω από την Αλμυρίδα είναι ιδανικά μέρη για τους περιπατητές.
Agios Ioannis (St. John) is a small coastal village located 73km south of Heraklion, south of the village Kapetaniana. Kapetaniana is very close to the highest peak of Asterousia Mountains, Kofinas Peak. In Kapetaniana, you can visit the Byzantine Church of the Panagia and the Church of the Holy Cross, or climb in the local climbing track.
Tο άγριο Πρασσανό φαράγγι βρίσκεται 10 km νοτιοανατολικά του Ρεθύμνου. Ξεκινώντας από τα νότια του χωριού Πρασσές, προσφέρει μια τρίωρη διαδρομή μέσα από θεόρατα εντυπωσιακά τοιχώματα βράχων και μερικές σχετικά δύσβατες προσπελάσεις που κάνουν το πέρασμά του εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον.
The poor asphalt road that leads to Keramiani Gialia stops near the local harbor of Agia Fotini, also known as Agia Fotia. Agia Fotia has some stunning tiny pebble beaches, ideal for snorkeling and swimming. These are surrounded by marvellous huge rocks.
The archaeological site of Gortys (or Gortyna) is located 45km south of Heraklion, near the village of Agii Deka and next to the road connecting Agii Deka with Mires. The town covered a large area along the river Mitropolianos (or Litheos) with vast olive groves.
It is named after the Saracen pirates who once used the island as a base of attacks. Sarakiniko, like all beaches in Gavdos is one of the best beaches in Greece that any description can not fit the beauty. It is located on a large cove bay looking north.
