The nunnery of Paliani is located at an altitude of 280m, next to the village Venerato, 20km southwest of Heraklion at the exit of Venerato Gorge. The monastery is dedicated to the Assumption and celebrates on August 15.

The ancient city of Aptera was founded in the 8th century BC in a panoramic position that controlled Souda Bay and flourished in the Hellenistic period. It was abandoned in the Arab years, when it was destroyed by the pirates (or an earthquake).

At the plateau of Ziros and right next to the homonymous village we meet a very small wetland, covering only a half acre. This small pond is extremely important for the biodiversity of the dry Eastern Crete, as the existence of freshwater anywhere there is valuable.

Kalamokanias is located 57km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 22km east of Ierapetra, on the west side of Makrigialos settlement. It is located on the west side of the hill that rises behind the harbor area. It takes its name after the migratory bird stilt (Himantopus himantopus) that has red legs and body reminding of a miniature stork and stops in the local streams.

Η μεγάλη παραλία του Istron Bay βρίσκεται 1 χλμ ανατολικά από το χωριό και είναι καλά κρυμμένη στην άκρη ενός απόκρημνου κόλπου. Η παραλία ονομάζεται Πηλός, αλλά είναι ευρύτερα γνωστή με το όνομα Istron Bay, λόγω του ομώνυμου ξενοδοχείου που είναι κτισμένο στην απότομη πλαγιά του κόλπου. Ενώ φαίνεται σαν ιδιωτική, υπάρχει μονοπάτι που οδηγεί στην παραλία στα δυτικά του ξενοδοχείου.

Η Μονή του Αγίου Γεωργίου στο Καρύδι Αποκορώνου βρίσκεται περίπου 2km ανατολικά του Βάμου. Η μονή ήταν εγκαταλελειμμένη για πολλά χρόνια, αλλά αναστηλώθηκε το 1996 και λειτουργεί ξανά. Το μοναστήρι είναι το μοναδικό της επαρχίας Αποκόρωνα και αποτελεί το πιο ενδιαφέρον συγκρότημα λαϊκής αρχιτεκτονικής του νομού Χανίων.

Το παράκτιο μονοπάτι που συνδέει την Σούγια προς την Αγία Ρουμέλη είναι ένα από τα πιο δύσκολα, κουραστικά, αλλά και όμορφα τμήματα του Ε4 στην Κρήτη. Το μονοπάτι ξεκινά από την αρχαία Συία (Σούγια), περνάει από την Τρυπητή και τα Δώματα, ανηφορίζει σε υψόμετρο 550m και καταλήγει στην Αγία Ρουμέλη.

The Monastery of Virgin Mary Theogennitor is located very close to Mohos and is built on a unique location with views of the coast of Stalis. The monastery, although new, has gained a great reputation mainly because of its founder father Apostolos. Apostolos was a former monk of the monastery of St. John in Anopolis and in 2009 he was evicted and founded this monastery.
