The beach starts from the church “Madonna of the Harbor”, near the port of Kissamos, and extends along a 2km shore with coves, up to Kaliviani. Vigglia has coarse sand and crystal clear waters. In some parts, the sand is interrupted by a few pebbles and rocks.
The cave of Eileithyia is located 7km east of Heraklion and 1 km southeast of Amnissos. It is formed on the eastern sides of the valley of Karteros, next to the old road that lead to Episkopi from Amnisos. The entrance of the cave is near an old fig tree. The cave was discovered during the last century. The locals also call it “Neraidospilios”, meaning the Fairy Cave.
Contrary to the tradition of building mills on mountains, on the seaside of Elounda's ancient saltpans, we meet three windmills, at the scenic point where a canal connecting the lagoon with the south shores has been constructed. They all are completely circular, turning to all winds (this type is called Xetrocharis.
The village has faced a very mild touristic development, which makes it a very quiet destination even in August. Along the seaside village road stretches a large pebbly beach with clean and cool water, not very well organised, although there are some places with umbrellas and taverns nearby. After swimming you can enjoy the famous local fish.

Деревня Канли Кастелли, сегодня известная как деревня Пророка Ильи, находится в 18км к югу от Ираклиона, в начале долины Маладес. Деревня расположена у подножия крутого холма Рока с двумя вершинами, на котором до сих пор сохранились руины форта Канли Кастелли, который дал старое название деревни Пророка Ильи.
Η Μονή του Αγίου Παντελεήμονος βρίσκεται 25km δυτικά του Ηρακλείου και 3km νότια του Φόδελε, σε μια κατάφυτη περιοχή από πορτοκαλεώνες και ελαιώνες. Το μοναστήρι ήταν κτισμένο με φρουριακή αρχιτεκτονική για να αποκρούει τις εχθρικές επιθέσεις. Σήμερα σώζεται τμήμα από τον οχυρωματικό περίβολο και η όμορφη είσοδος του μοναστηριού.
