1km east of settlement Istron we meet a well hidden beach in a steep bay. The beach is called Pilos, but is widely known as Istron Bay, after the homonym hotel that is built on the steep slopes of the bay. While it seems as private, there is a path leading to the beach starting from the west of the hotel.
Loutra (i.e. Baths) is located 3km east of the seaside village Lendas, 77km south of Heraklion. It is known to locals because it hosts the port of Lendas, which is protected by the Cape Trafoulas on the east.
The name Lato is taken after the Dorian pronunciation of the goddess Leto, who probably was worshiped here. However, the patron of the city was the goddess of childbirth, Eileithyia, who is depicted on the coins of Lato. moverer in Lato was born the admiral of Alexander the Great, Nearchus (360 to 312 BC).
The Minoan Kydonia was built at the current location of the old town of Chania. Kydonia was the third largest town of Minoan Crete. Here developed a thriving craft industry and the town became rich through sea trade, which was favored by its position. Indeed, the ancient writers mention Kydonia as the mother of the Cretan towns.
Η Πύλη Παντοκράτορα, γνωστή περισσότερο ως Χανιώπορτα, βρίσκεται σε ένα από τα κεντρικότερα σημεία του Ηρακλείου και αποτελούσε την έξοδο προς την δυτική Κρήτη. Από έναν ενιαίο χώρο εσωτερικά της πύλης ξεκινούν δυο αψιδωτές στοές με διαφορετικές εισόδους, η μια που οδηγούσε στα δυτικά και η άλλη (στρατιωτική στοά) στη νότια χαμηλή πλατεία του προμαχώνα του Παντοκράτορα.

Η νήσος Δραγονάδα είναι η μεγαλύτερη από τις νησίδες Διονυσάδες στα ανοιχτά της Σητείας. Στο νησί υπάρχει μικρό υποτυπώδες λιμανάκι, δίπλα στο ναό του Αγίου Αντωνίου και στο μοναδικό σπίτι στο νησί. Στο λιμανάκι αυτό σχηματίζεται μια μικροσκοπική, αλλά πολύ όμορφη, παραλία με άμμο και βραχώδη βυθό.
The archaeological site of Gournia is located on a hill west of Pachia Ammos, near the road connecting Agios Nikolaos to Ierapetra, 19km east of Agios Nikolaos. The city flourished in the Minoan period and is the most complete excavated Minoan town in Crete. Because of its good conservation, it was named as the "Pompeii of Crete". The excavation of Gournia was implemented by an American Archaeology Group, headed by Harriet Boyd, in 1901-1904.
