The Monastery of Virgin Mary Theogennitor is located very close to Mohos and is built on a unique location with views of the coast of Stalis. The monastery, although new, has gained a great reputation mainly because of its founder father Apostolos. Apostolos was a former monk of the monastery of St. John in Anopolis and in 2009 he was evicted and founded this monastery.
2km north of Agios Nikolaos you will meet the historic Hotel Mirabello. In front of the hotel there are the two bays of Mirabello with two beautiful sandy beaches. The first beach is protected by docks and a small marina. Both of them are very well-organized, with umbrellas, sunbeds, showers and bar. They are separated by a short artificial peninsula with tamarisk trees.
Η Μονή Δισκουρίου βρίσκεται 43km ανατολικά του Ρεθύμνου και θεωρείται μια από τις παλαιότερες μονές της Κρήτης. Η παλαιότητα της αποδεικνύεται από την ύπαρξη του κοντινού κατάγραφου Βυζαντινού ναού του Αγίου Ιωάννη του Προδρόμου.
If you head 1km to the east of Myrtos you will meet the long beach of Sarikambos, that is more secluded, but the seabed becomes coarser. 2 more km on the east, you'll find a small bay next to the greenhouses of Nea Myrtos settlement. This is avoided for swimming due to the greenhouses that might pollute the water.

Η παραλία έχει κυρίως βράχια και βότσαλα, ενώ τριγύρω υπάρχουν πολλά πεύκα. Ο Άγιος Αντώνιος ενδείκνυται για μάσκα, για ψάρεμα, για γυμνισμό και κατασκήνωση. Δεν υπάρχουν καθόλου υποδομές στην ευρύτερη περιοχή, μόνο ήλιος. πεύκα και θάλασσα.
Thripti Plateau is located next to the village of Kavousi, in Ierapetra area, at an altitude of 850m. It's really one of the most beautiful places worth visiting in Crete, which is totally unknown to most Cretans. Its natural beauty is very special and so are the Thripti mountain hiking trails, which are part of the European path E4, which starts from the Iberian Peninsula, passing the Alps down to Crete, where it stops in the mountains of Sitia.
The archaeological site of Kommos is located 4km west of Phaestus, near Pitsidia and Matala. Kommos (or Komos) was a small Minoan town founded in 2000BC and served the port needs of Phaestus, with which it was linked by road. Kommos was probably destroyed by an earthquake in 1700BC, but survived up to the Hellenistic period.
