The Church of Panagia (Our Lady) in Lithines, province Sitia, is located in the center of the village. It consists of the original Byzantine church of the Dormition of Theotokos, which is strangely honored at the Birth of the Virgin.
The ruined church of Panagia in the village Patsos, province Amari, is dedicated to the Birth of the Theotokos. The magnificence of the building and the high quality of construction materials and frescoes rank this church as one of the most important in Crete.
Ο ναός της Παναγίας της Φανερωμένης βρίσκεται στον Άγιο Ιωάννη Μυλοποτάμου και ιδρύθηκε επί αυτοκρατορίας του Ανδρόνικου Β' Παλαιολόγου (1282-1328). Ο ναός ανήκει στον τύπο του μονόχωρου καμαροσκέπαστου, ο οποίος επεκτάθηκε προς τα δυτικά τον 16ο αιώνα. Στα νότια της επέκτασης προστέθηκε ταφικό παρεκκλήσι με ογκώδη σαρκοφάγο.
During the Venetian occupation, the double-aisled temple of Jesus Christ our Savior in Kritsa gave the name Christos to the neighborhood around, which was then considered a separate settlement, and operated as its cemetery. Here, the father of the legendary woman Kritsotopoula was a priest.
Στην πάνω γειτονιά του χωριού Στροβλές της επαρχίας Σελίνου είναι κτισμένος ο ναός του Τιμίου Σταυρού. Ο ναός χρονολογείται περίπου στο 1440 και ανήκει στον αρχιτεκτονικό τύπο του καμαροσκέπαστου μονόχωρου ναού, στον οποίο έχει προστεθεί βαρύ κωδωνοστάσιο σε δεύτερη φάση.
Ο ναός του Αγίου Νικολάου βρίσκεται σε κεντρικό σημείο του χωριού Μάλλες της επαρχίας Ιεράπετρας και με μια πρώτη ματιά νομίζει κανείς πως πρόκειται για νεότερο ναό. Ωστόσο, ο ναός χρονολογείται στην Ενετική Περίοδο αλλά έχει υποστεί εκτεταμένες εργασίες συντήρησης, τόσο εξωτερικά, όσο και εσωτερικά.
The large temple of the Agia Zoni (Cincture of Virgin Mary) is located inside the village of Agies Paraskies and celebrates the day of the Cincture of the Theotokos (August 31) which is the last day of the Greek Orthodox church year. The church dates back to the 11th century and has frescoes that are very hard to discern.
