The fortified monastery of Agarathos is located 23km east of Heraklion in a wooded location at an altitude of 538m near Episkopi. The monastery, especially during the Venetian Era, was one of the richest in Crete owning several other monasteries in Heraklion and Lassithi prefectures. It is considered the first in the hierarchy of the monasteries of the island.

Η δενδρογαλιά (επιστ. Hierophis gemonensis ή Coluber gemonensis) είναι ένα μεσαίου μεγέθους φίδι, το οποίο υπάρχει σε όλη την Κρήτη. Μπορεί να φτάσει σε μήκος το 1m, συνήθως όμως είναι πολύ μικρότερο.
Ο Φαφλάγκος συγκεντρώνει το καλοκαίρι αρκετό κόσμο λόγω της υπέροχης παραλίας που έχει που ξεκινά με βότσαλο στο δυτικό τμήμα μέσα στον οικισμό και όσο προχωρά προς ανατολικά έχει υπέροχη χοντρή άμμο, χαρακτηριστική όλων των παραλιών της περιοχής.
The mansion was firstly excavated in 1918, when four major sacred bronze axes were found. This fact, combined with the large number of religious objects in manufacturing stage, indicates that the mansion operated as a workshop for a Minoan priest who created religious objects. 700m west of the mansion, archaeologists have detected traces of a small Minoan settlement and a harbor.
The cypress wood of Kritsa is located about 10km west of Kritsa village, very close to the asphalt road that heads to the plateau of Katharo. It is formed across a deep ravine, at the southern foot of Mount Tsiva. The forest is in the middle of the ancient path that led Minoans to the plateau of Katharo, with many Minoan pottery remains found here.
