Faflagos is located 89km southeast of Iraklion, near the village Arvi. It is a small seaside settlement at the exit of a small valley, which is crossed by the river Blavaris or Blavopotamos, which has no water in summer and starts from Kato Symi. In front of the village, stretches a very long shore with beautiful and tranquil beaches. Nearby, there are many greenhouses with crops of bananas and fresh vegetables.
Εδώ υπάρχουν μερικές αμμουδερές παραλίες μακριά από τα αδιάκριτα βλέμματα, ενώ ο βραχώδης γενικά βυθός είναι ίσως ο πλουσιότερος στο νησί. Όπως επίσης έχει πολύ συχνά αέρα γι’ αυτό σχεδόν πάντα θα δείτε windsurfers. Ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση επίσης προκαλεί η πολύ στενή λωρίδα γης.
Το Ιερό ησυχαστήριον Αγίων Θεοδώρων βρίσκεται στο δρόμο που οδηγεί στο Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο Ηρακλείου. Είναι νεώτερη μονή που ιδρύθηκε από τον Τιμόθεο Τζαννή περί το 1980.
Katarti is a tiny beach that is formed in the exit of a small gorge, 73km south of Heraklion city, at the base of Oxa Cape. This secluded beach is located amidst the wild and majestic landscape of Asterousia Mountains, southwest of the summit of Kofinas.
Ο όρμος του Σαλαμιά (ή της Σαλαμιάς) βρίσκεται 74 χλμ νότια του Ηρακλείου, ανάμεσα στον Άη Γιάννη και στη Τρυπητή. Κοντά δεν υπάρχουν δρόμοι, μόνο κακοί χωματόδρομοι, κάνοντας την μια από τις πιο απομονωμένες περιοχές της Κρήτης. Έτσι, μπορείτε να έρθετε κυρίως είτε με βάρκα, είτε με κουραστική πεζοπορία από τον Άη Γιάννη.
Doxa cave is situated at an altitude of 463m, in the position Kaka Pila of Marathos, 20km west of Heraklion. It is a small but well-known cave, which has very impressive décor of different colors and shapes. Doxa Cave is located 7.5 km after the junction to Tylisos, towards Damasta.
Elyros was the most important town in southwestern Crete during the Doric and Roman Periods. Ruins are conserved 500m far from the village Rodovani atop the panoramic hill Kefala. The town had two harbors: Syia(current Sougia) and Lissos. The exact location of the town was verified by an inscription with the phrase in Greek "Glory to the people of Elyros".
