Ο Αρκουδόσπηλιος ή το Σπήλαιο της Παναγίας της Αρκουδιώτισσας βρίσκεται στο Ακρωτήρι Χανίων, 2km βόρεια της μονής Γουβερνέτου, μέσα στο φαράγγι Αυλάκι που συνδέει τη μονή με την Μονή Καθολικού. Η σπηλιά είναι γνωστή για τον βράχο σε σχήμα αρκούδας, που έκανε στην αρχαιότητα το σπήλαιο λατρευτικό χώρο της Άρτεμης.
The last beach north of Agios Nikolaos, on the way to Elounda, is the beach of Katsikia (i.e. goats). The area is named after the many goat pens in the past. Similarly, Agios Nikolaos town was called Mantraki that means goat pen. Katsikia host a nice sandy beach with stones in a places, well hidden in front of the hotel Candia Park. To get there you should walk either across the hotel or around it.
Next to the port of Agios Nikolaos you’ll find the tiny pebble beach of Akti Themistokleous street, next to the sculpture of Nikos Koundouros named "The Rape of Europe".
In the southeastern part of the magic island is formed Chiliaderfia Bay with 4 beaches and 2-3 islets colored by the characteristic white color of the rocks of the area, which in ancient times gave the island its name Lefki (i.e. white). All beaches have shallow water, as clear as anywhere in Crete, and fine golden sand.
Matala, ancient Matelon, was a port of Phaestus and Gortys and is well known for the carved caves, which were Grecoroman tombs. The cape south of Matala has been identified as the Cape Nysos and the location where the ships of Menelaus were wrecked (Odyssey).
It is a small and secluded pebbly beach within a rocky bay. It is totally unorganized without any facilities. There is a nice cave in the sea, however the sea streams gather a lot of rubbish at the wider area. The next beach you'll meet is the beach with the abandoned camping site of Gournia. It is very secluded, but rubbish is very often due to the currents.
Menies beach is located on the site of ancient Diktynna. Diktynna was the most important temple of the goddess Vritomartis, which is believed to be goddess Artemis. Thousands worshippers used to come in the area from all over the island. Vritomartis was worshiped here during the Hellenistic and Roman times. The possession of Diktynna was always a conflict between ancient Kydonia and Polirinia.
Δυτικά του Λέντα φτάνουμε στον οικισμό του Τσίγκουνα ο οποίος έχει απεριόριστη θέα στο Ακρωτήριο Λιοντάρι του Λέντα, καθώς κοιτάει ανατολικά. Εδώ υπάρχει και η μικρή παραλία Λιμανάκι που έχει σχεδόν πάντα ήρεμα νερά (λόγω του ανατολικού της προσανατολισμού) και χρησιμοποιείται και ως το λιμανάκι του οικισμού.
