On the main road that leads from Koutsounari to the village of Agios Ioannis in the province of Ierapetra we meet a sign to the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Psathi. From there, a bad dirt road leads us to the position Psathi where this small monastery, also known as Pelekkissia, was built
The church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) is located in the village Kouneni (current formal name of the village is Vathi) and belongs to the architectural type of the single-nave arched roofed temple. The side antennas are adorned with blind arches, while the semicircular arch has been collapsed and rebuilt.
The church of the Megali (Great) Panagia in the central square of Neapolis dominates all parts of the city, being the largest church of Eastern Crete. It is dedicated to the Dormition of Theotokos and during its celebration, on August 15, pilgrims from all over Crete arrive here.
Δίπλα στο μικρό φράγμα της Κεράς στο χωριό Ίνι συναντάμε το γραφικό ναό της Παναγίας Κεράς που είναι αφιερωμένος στην Ζωοδόχο Πηγή. Ο ναός δε φέρει τοιχογραφίες στο εσωτερικό του. Δίπλα στο ναό υπάρχει ένα μικρό διαμορφωμένο σπηλαίωμα με πηγή με νερό που θεωρείται αγιασμένο.
Στη Μαθιά Πεδιάδος βρίσκεται ο μικρός ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου κρυμμένος ανάμεσα σε ελαιώνες και σε σημείο που χρειάζεται περπάτημα σε σύντομο μονοπάτι. Ο ναός είναι μικρός, μονόχωρος και καμαροσκέπαστος, όπως οι περισσότεροι Βυζαντινοί ναοί της περιοχής.
The wider area of Fodele hosts several small and high waterfalls. The most easily accessible of them is the waterfall of Skotini, located very close to the Byzantine temple of Panagia (Virgin Mary) in Fodele and the Museum of El Greco.
Στον Μοχό Πεδιάδας (κοντά στην Σταλίδα) ζούσε, κατά την περίοδο της Επανάστασης του 1821, ο γενίτσαρος Αρίφ Μόχογλου. Ο Μόχογλου είχε οικοδομήσει οχυρό πύργο, όπου διέμενε η οικογένεια του.
