Λίγο πάνω και νότια του χωριού Αχεντριάς (Οχεντριάς, το χωριό με τις όχεντρες) Ηρακλείου βρίσκεται η λίμνη του Τούρκου ο Λάκκος ή Κολυμπάς. Πρόκειται για τη μόνη φυσική λίμνη σε όλη την οροσειρά των Αστερουσίων και αποτελεί σημαντικό βιότοπο. Σε αρκετά μεγάλο υψόμετρο, δημιουργείται σε ένα μικρό κοίλωμα γης που δημιουργεί ο φλύσχης των Αστερουσίων.

Above Loutro there are still the ruins of the Turkish fortress, Koules, which dominated over the current settlement. The building was built in 1868 and had two towers on west and east sides. It has rectangular shape and some of its walls survive. Outside the walls, there are big tanks surviving.

The Church of Saint Paraskevi on Monis Kardiotissis Street, in the Kamaraki district of Heraklion, was built in the early 20th century and consecrated on 13 June 1910. Its interior preserves important architectural remains of an earlier church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, known as Panagia Kera Manolitissa at Xoporto.

Askyfou Plateau, about 50km south of Chania city, is located in a strategic position and is formed on the passage that connects the southern shores of Sfakia to the north coasts of Crete. Sfakia did always breed great revolutionaries and the Turks always wanted to control them. Thus, in response to the Cretan Revolution of 1866, they began construct Koules, i.e. small castles, in the most important locations of Sfakia.

Η Μινωική νεκρόπολη των Αρμένων βρίσκεται 9 km νότια της πόλης του Ρεθύμνου, πάνω στο φυσικό και οδικό άξονα που συνδέει τη βόρεια με τη νότια ακτή της Κρήτης. Πρόκειται για το μεγαλύτερο ανασκαμμένο νεκροταφείο της Υστερομινωικής ΙΙΙ Α-Β Περιόδου (1400-1200πΧ), το οποίο απλώνεται σε ένα χαμηλό λόφο στη θέση Πρινοκέφαλο.

The Moorish Wall Gecko (scient. Tarentola mauritanica) is a small species of lizard that reaches a total length of 16cm and can be found on the island of Crete.

Η Αρχαιολογική Συλλογή Ιεράπετρας άρχισε να συγκροτείται στα τέλη του 19oυ αιώνα, όταν φιλάρχαιοι κάτοικοι της πόλης ίδρυσαν το Φιλεκπαιδευτικό Σύλλογο Ιεράπετρας, με σκοπό την περισυλλογή και τη διαφύλαξη των αρχαίων της περιοχής και τη δημιουργία μουσειακής συλλογής.
