Kollita Gorges, i.e. Twin Ravines are located nearby the picturesque village Argyroupolis, about 22km southwest of Rethymnon city. They are named so, as they consist of two parallel canyons that end near Kato Poros settlement. Here we refer to the easternmost gorge of Moundros.
Τα φρούρια που οι Ενετοί ίδρυσαν στην νότια Κρήτη ήταν πολύ λίγα, ίσως επειδή τα παράλια της είναι άκολπα και αλίμενα. Ένα από αυτά πάντως ήταν το φρούριο του Σελίνου στη Παλαιόχωρα. Το φρούριο αυτό είχε κτισθεί στο λαιμό μιας στρογγυλής προεξοχής της στεριάς μέσα στη θάλασσα με στόχο την εδραίωση της ενετικής επικυριαρχίας στην περιοχή, που κατοικείτο από τον ασυμβίβαστο Κρητικό λαό.
Λίγα μέτρα πριν το χωριό Ορνέ, Αγίου Βασιλείου Ρεθύμνης συναντάμε τον επιβλητικό καταρράκτη της Σεληνάρας. Πρόκειται ουσιαστικά για ένα ποτάμι με αλλεπάλληλους καταρράκτες και όχι απλά για ένα και μόνο καταρράκτη στη νότια πλευρά του γεμάτου καταρράκτες όρους Κέντρος.
Το Βαθύπετρο είναι ένας πολύ μικρός οικισμός 4km και 20km νότια των Αρχανών και του Ηρακλείου, σε μια τοποθεσία με μοναδική θέα στον Γιούχτα και στις κοιλάδες με τους αμπελώνες που σχηματίζονται στα νότια του. Δίπλα στο χωριό και στον δρόμο που ενώνει τις Αρχάνες με τη Λιγόρτυνο έχει ανασκαφεί ένα μινωικό μέγαρο.
To the west of the prefecture of Chania and 20 kilometers away from the city of Chania we meet the estuary of Tavronitis. Tavronitis with Platanias are the two largest rivers in the western part of Chania. At its exit to the sea, the river forms a delta which is a very important wetland.
At the area of Agia Irini, Spilia, there is the largest of the aqueduct bridges built in Crete. The aqueduct was built in 1830-40 by the Egyptians after the discovery of the ancient aqueduct of Knossos that had a tunnel of 1150m. Therefore, tunnel was cleaned and reused.
The Gorge of Katsouna, near Vrysses, is believed to be the Xenia Street of Herodotus, according to who the guests of ancient Pergamos arrived through here in order to not have visual contact with the forts of the town. The length of the gorge is about one kilometer and starts from Vrysses to reach the entrance of the ancient city.
